Little Man’s First Day

You guys. Something big happened yesterday. Like, really, really big. My Little Man, who is getting less little by the second, had his very first day of kindergarten.

If you can’t tell, he was pretty darn excited.

All set with his Cars backpack and, most importantly, his Paw Patrol water bottle. Any other adults out there who have seen every episode of the Paw Patrol? Solidarity.

Obviously I took a picture of his very first lunch, too, because I’m a dork. I made him a pasta salad with these fancy rainbow noodles he suckered me into buying. I’m a big fan of this lunch container, though. It fits perfectly into his little fire engine lunch box. Find them here, if you’re interested. I’ve also gone crazy pinning lunchbox ideas to a new Pinterest board. Feel free to give me a follow! I’m officially a school mom now. It’s weird.

I’m thinking of doing some posts on quick weeknight meals. Anyone interested?

And as for Little Man? He had an amazing time at school, and seemed to love every minute. Even though the kid next to him at his table was wearing the same shirt. Yay, Target! Haha.

(Total side-note to this post: Not sure if you noticed, but my profile picture got a serious upgrade, thanks to my friend Laura. She’s an amazing photographer based out of Tucson who has been featured in different magazines and even an episode of Major Crimes. She’s a big deal! And she was up here in Minnesota over the summer photographing a wedding and took some time to get some shots of me and my family. She’s seriously amazing. If you live anywhere near her, you should check her out! She travels, too! For real, just look at her fantastic website! http://www.laurakmoore.com)

Rhubarb Meringue Bars

I made these bars last year. I photographed them. I edited the photos. I even started a post. But then it took me too long and rhubarb season was over, so I thought I’d sit on this recipe for a long year so I could share it when the time was right.

Now is the time.

I don’t grow rhubarb in our garden (yet.) But my grandma does, and so sometimes we get some from her garden, and sometimes we pick some up at the farmer’s market. But I don’t actually have that many recipes for rhubarb, so I searched through my grandma’s recipes and found this lovely.

Woodland Birthday Party

27616423356_698d85ddfd_c  Hello lovelies!

Last month was Miss Bean’s second birthday. I can’t believe that two years has passed since that sweet girl entered our lives. It’s hard to remember what life was like before she was in it!

Since she’s still a bit too young to tell us what kind of party she wanted, I had to figure out a party theme that I thought she would enjoy. One of her favorite things in the world is animals, so I decided on a Woodland theme, complete with cute little woodland animals. Continue reading

With Love From Me to You {Christmas Cookies 2015}

If there’s anything that you want
If there’s anything I can do
Just call on me and I’ll send it along
With love from me to you
-The Beatles

When I found these adorable tag cookie cutters, I knew right away that they needed to be part of our Christmas cookies this year. And when I thought about what to write on them, this song immediately popped into my head. And then my imagination started flowing, figuring out how to combine Christmas with this love theme. Then my sister suggested using a turquoise and red color scheme, and these cookies were born. Continue reading

Grandma’s Gingersnaps

23429134205_2edfe768e2_nRight around the time that fall hits, it seems our tastes change. We long for those comforting foods– you know, the ones with all the butter and cream? Haha. And also the ones filled with warm spices.

These gingersnaps from my grandma’s recipe box fit the bill perfectly. In my family, these have always been called “gingersnaps,” but the truth is that there isn’t anything “snappy” about these cookies. These are soft and chewy and filled with molasses. They’re just plain delicious. A cookie by any other name, right?
